Mix & Match......

It's NEVER easy trying to determine what matches - what doesn't and what your friends & family won't laugh at you for doing decor wise......But as time goes on - there is no doubt that the statement "ANYTHING GOES" applies to decorating! And for this we should all be so happy! I know I am...

Back in the day it seemed Tabu to mix different furniture textures - such as leather and floral - or leather and plaid. Now - have at it!

Same goes for pillows - throws - and your wall art. Be brave - take risks. Try to work within your wall color for a jumping off point. I think about curtains first when I am trying to plan out a room - and I base those off the wall color. Head next into pillows for your couch and chairs...I tend to stay within the same color family with throw pillows - but have been taking more risks with mixing patterns. I think it's going to be "baby steps" for me and throw blankets.....I remain very boring in this catagory! All one color - or maybe a few flexs in with the main tone!

I pulled some images and did a quick write-up on each...enjoy!

Uhhhhhh - NO....

I am all about mixing patterns to achieve a look that is so eye pleasing - but this is over the top.... With this set up - I would leave the wallpaper because it is so FUN - but would put a gray couch in there - and go to town on some really pretty and colorful pillows & a nice throw across the back

of the couch..

PERFECT.....

Although this overall room isn't 100% my style - look at the three different patterns on those pillows....So pretty & I really love that they are all in the same color scheme in this room...I also really love how they are casually placed on the couch...

Less is more here - and it is so soothing. I think adding a really fringe/shag type rug on that floor would cozy up this space. The boring side of me would make the rug cream - but the right thing to do in here may be more along the lines of an oatmeal rug with some hints of gold...:)

Here is a beautiful mix of pillows - both in texture and in style. Too much gray however in this room! I would love to see that wingback chair switched out for one either in pinstripe or even a paisley. It would add so much character to the space...And maybe replace that white coffee table with something wicker?

These curtains....need no introduction!

White - goes with just about everything...So fresh and clean looking!

These curtains are so pretty - I wish I could see them up close! They have a raised pattern on them. Adds just the right touch....

Seeing all of these different images makes me want to change up a few things in my house...oh boy.....

Until next post....)
