PAINTstakingly hard......

Everyone reading this post will 100% agree - choosing paint colors is hands down the most difficult and stressful task to undertake. I am struggling with it right now - as I try to firm up the final colors for our new bedroom - laundry room & bathroom renovation.

Some backstory on things (so that you all don't feel so alone in this)! As many of you may know - my Husband Rick is a Builder..(an amazingly talented one at that). We have been in business for ourselves for 26 years now - and let me just tell you - out of all the decisions our customers have to make on their projects - from roof color - to window selections - to plumbing fixtures -lighting - cabinetry - countertops etc....the MOST difficult decision for them - just about every single one of them - is paint colors..... We literally get to the point where we say to them - "Ok - we have been waiting weeks for your paint colors - and we are now needing them by end of day today as the painters are starting tomorrow"....and I can almost feel the panic in their return emails to me....

The thing with paint is that it honestly sets the stage for your entire space. We match our furniture to it - throw pillows - blankets - decorations - curtains - rugs - right down to light fixtures. So we go back and forth - grabbing 643 paint strips from the paint store - asking our friends what their favorite paint colors are - painting little swatches on the wall - seeing how it looks in the daylight - etc. IT IS HARD!!!!!!!

Whenever I think about paint colors - my mind always goes to the trim color FIRST....If you prefer a traditional white trim - there are so many paint colors that just simply don't go with white...and when I see them together in a space - I cry inside (not really...). For me - I find that earthy colors - beige - tan - mossy greens - soft yellows - all blend so amazing with an off white paint. Pastels and primary colors are all so pretty with the traditional whites.

White Dove - is by far the most popular color that our customers choose for their painted cabinets - FYI....

Linen White - is the trim color I would pair with those earthy tones (mentioned above)

Decorator White - is the trim color I would pair with those primary colors - or pastels

I chose a few of my favorite wall colors - all Benjamin Moore...

Edgecomb Gray & Coastal Fog go so well with Linen white trim. All the rest - Decorator White....

How cute would that Paisley Pink be in a Nursery or little girls room!

Beach Glass is the best color - so fun in a beachy themed decor

Coastal Fog - my all time favorite paint color. It's soothing - matches so many different styles of decor. Give this a try! You won't regret it...

Iced Slate - this color - in a bathroom - bedroom - ahhhhh so so pretty....Maybe I will consider this for part of my reno....stay tuned!

Kitchen happiness calls for that Yellow Iris - all day long

If you ask me - a Dining Room painted Amsterdam would be beyond amazing!

Any basement renovation would benefit from Edgcomb Gray...

Hope these little tips help you somewhat if you are gearing up to take on a paint project in your space. Although the process of choosing your colors is so difficult - the end result is so rewarding (hopefully)....

Happy painting Ya'll...Until next post :)
